New March events at the Calandra Institute

The John D. Calandra Italian American Institute announces a series of events in March to complement its already announced schedule.

Monday, March 23, 6:30 PM
Omaggio ad Alfredo de Palchi /Homage to Alfredo de Palchi
The evening is dedicated to a celebration of Alfredo de Palchi's poetry. In addition to de Palchi reading from his latest book Paradigma, speakers will include Luigi Fontanella, Daniela Gioseffi, Michael Palma, Paolo Valesio, and Anthony Julian Tamburri. Reception to follow.

An Italics and CUNY TV co-production premieres on Sunday, March 25th, 2011 at 1pm; rebroadcast on Monday, March 26th, at 10am, & 3pm & 9pm on CUNY-TV, Ch.75 and RCN, Ch.77 in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, & The Bronx.

Peter Carravetta. Alfonse M. D'Amato Chair in Italian and Italian American Studies, Stony Brook University

In Eleven in September, Silvia Tessitore weaves first-person accounts of 9/11 through the lens of someone who had lived through the event from a distance and finally arrives in New York to hear and feel directly what the Twin Towers have come to represent. The book is in Italian, the discussion in English. Reception to follow.
