New Orleans' American Italian Research Library Relocates

(Mar 15, 2012)

Moving from its home in New Orleans, the American Italian Research Library will be rededicated Saturday, March 17, at 10:30 a.m. at its new location nearby at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 West Napoleon Ave., Metairie, Louisiana. The opening date is a prelude to the community’s St. Joseph’s Day celebrations planned this weekend. The holdings, located in the library’s special collection, contain a treasure trove of oral histories, immigration records, notes, books, photographs and other artifacts chronicling the local Italian community. Included in the opening festivities will be a performance by the world-famous Sansepolcro Flag-Wavers, visiting from Tuscany. For the full
