Call for AHA Panel Proposal: Migration and Religion

(Jan 09, 2014)

From William Cossen, Pennsylvania State University: I would like to form a panel for the 129th Annual Meeting of the American Historical Association, which will be held in New York City, from January 2-5, 2015. The proposed panel will address the theme of religion and migration. My work focuses on the role of native-born U.S. Catholics as gatekeepers for both their country and their church as they confronted immigration regulation and restriction during the Progressive Era.
> I am seeking other scholars working on the broad subject of religion and migration to serve either as panelists, chair, or commentator. In keeping with the AHA’s theme of “History and the Other Disciplines,” approaches to the subject from non-historical disciplines are also welcome.
> The deadline for proposals for the 2015 meeting is February 15, 2014. If interested, please contact William S. Cossen at wsc5037@psu.edu.
