Two Positions Open at Calandra Institute

The John D. Calandra Italian American Institute of Queens College/CUNY is looking to fill two full time positions: Administrative Coordinator and Communications Publications Writer. The locaiton is at the Calandra Institute in New York City. Clisng date for applications: March 10, 2014.

Administrative Coordinator: Job ID: 9721
Reporting directly to the Dean of the Calandra Institute, the Administrative Coordinator performs various activities to support the mission of the institute such as projects, initiatives, and activities. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Organizes office functions such as communications, meeting schedules, work plans, and draft letters for correspondence in English and Italian.
- Assists Dean through administrative support activities.
- Updates office databases, lists, and files to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Conducts internet and/or database research and performs basic systems queries to locate information related to department activities.
- Provides clerical support for Bordighera Press and other publications at the Calandra Institute.
- Provides basic information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and others who contact the department.

Communications Publications Writer Job ID: 9722
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Collaborates on the production of the Italian American Review.
- Writes and maintains web content for Institute's website such as day-to-day maintenance and updates.
- Writes and prepares written material on a variety of topics such as students, alumni, faculty, campus facilities, academic programs, and/or events.
- Researches and writes news releases, brochures, profiles, announcements, e-news stories and other materials as needed
- Reviews and proofreads drafts prepared by other staff
- Produces material to be used in a number of formats such as print, web sites, and presentations
- May work with other professionals in admissions, marketing, public relations, development, or academic affairs to write brochures or marketing materials
