AIHA's Statement on the Arizona Law Concerning Ethnic Studies

(Aug 05, 2011)
The American Italian Historical Association* deplores HB2281 which restricts the teaching of ethnic studies courses in the State of Arizona's public school system. Ethnic studies courses belong to the education of all Americans. These courses allow students to explore the diversity of cultures in the United States. They promote self awareness and awareness of others. Ethnic studies courses prepare students for the responsibilities of citizenship in the contemporary world. *see aihaweb.org
